Guest Post Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in doing a guest post on Memoir Writer’s Journey.
Guest posts are a great way to meet new people and engage in conversation with a new community. I like to think of my blog as a kitchen table and the weekly posts as invitations to join in the conversation around the table. I welcome you as my guest and look forward to introducing you and helping you share your message.
Please review the following steps:
Define Specific Topic:
If you would like to pitch a guest post idea, please contact me via contact email form.
We can make arrangements to discuss topics over the phone as well.
The post can be done in the form of an interview, or an individual post.
We can also do a Google+Hangout which will be uploaded to You Tube and can be embedded in the post. A text of the interview will also need to be provided. We will work together on the content of the text.
If you wish to do a blog tour (series of guest posts on multiple blogs during book launch), please identify a blog post theme related to your book topic or specific area of expertise. If you click on the Archives tab on the landing page or here, you can link to previous guest posts to get an idea of the type of topics addressed.
Please attach a Microsoft word file to an email.
Word count: 500-1000 max range (750 is a good #) This can be flexible depending upon the content.
I start all my posts out with a quote that is pertinent to the content. If you do not have a favorite one, I will select one that highlights your message.
Attach any (legal) photos you may want to use with photo credits to reinforce your message. If you do not have any, I will try to find one. I usually go to Flickr Creative Commons or Dreamstimefree.com.
Synopsis of achievements and links to contact information, including: website/blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and any other way you want people to find you.
Please include any ordering information for your book. This will be linked in the post.
Be available to respond to comments- most of them come in during the first few days of posting (I post every Monday).
I will announce your post on Twitter the Sunday before the posting and will schedule tweets for every morning through the following Sunday. I will also link your post on Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, tumbler and DiggIt. Feel free to do the same and more if I missed anything. I will keep you informed throughout the week about the blog stats. Using hashtags (#) on a tweet will highlight your post for lists that people follow. The main hashtags I use are #amwriting #memoir #memoirwritingtips #writing #writetips.
If you are unfamiliar with Twitter, this post on “Using Twitter Strategically”may be helpful.
Please let me know if you want to do a book giveaway to a random commenter. If so, I will announce your guest post and book giveaway in the previous week’s post.
I will do the drawing the Sunday after the posting and notify the winner and you via email with instructions to email you with their preference of digital version and their home address if they choose the paperback version. Include book cover photo as jpg.file
Please note: I reserve the right for final edit and do not accept profane or offensive language.
Post deadline: 2 weeks before it goes live:
Thank you and feel free to contact me at email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns.
I look forward to working with you and having some lively conversation around the table.
We are all enriched, enlightened and inspired when we share our stories!
